Swim School

Learning to swim is a survival skill for life

Our multi-award winning learn-to-swim programs teach children and adults swimming and water safety skills in a world-class facility where many of Australia’s top and aspiring athletes train.

Our program teaches a progression of skills in a safe, educational and supportive environment. Our focus is on basic skills being acquired before more difficult skills are taught with an emphasis on 1) water safety and 2) correct technique over a short distance before longer distances are introduced.

Education on how to be safer in and around water is at the heart of what we do. All our lessons incorporate components of water safety and an entire week is dedicated to water safety each term. During water safety week, participants can practice their survival skills, demonstrate rescues and learn about ways to be Water Smart… and have lots of FUN!

Please see the supervisor during this time for information about your child’s swimming. Some students may be assessed and promoted prior to week eight depending on readiness.

A supervisor will inform you when your child has been promoted and issue you with a promotion card. Please take this card to reception to enrol or waitlist for another class at the next level. If you have any questions regarding your child’s progress, please speak to one of our supervisors for assistance.

Missed lessons

Please note we do not offer make up lessons for missed lessons.

Notes for parents

  • Allow plenty of time for the commencement of lessons.
  • Children under the age of 15 years must have a parent/guardian (over 18 years of age) remain on pool deck for the duration of the swimming lesson AND maintain active supervision of their children. This means:
    • 0-5 year olds - stay within arm's reach
    • 6-10 year olds & weak swimmers - be close, be prepared & maintain constant visual contact
    • 11-14 year olds - maintain visual contact.
  • For the more advanced levels, ensure your child brings water to drink during swim sessions.
  • In the colder months it is important for your child to have warm clothing on prior to leaving the centre.
  • Please take note of communication notices posted on our notice boards.
  • Please do not leave personal belongings unattended. Lockers are available.
  • Swimming increases your appetite and thirst, so have snacks and water ready for when your child finishes lessons.
  • Learn to swim customers participating in public swimming activities must adhere to the conditions of entry.
