The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) has announced a new name for the biggest refresh of the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) Campus in more than four decades.

Previously referred to as the AIS Site Redevelopment Project, the AIS Podium Project will see three new key high performance sport facilities constructed at the Canberra Campus:
- a multi-story, up to 200 bed, fully para-accessible accommodation building
- a large indoor Sport Dome that will provide 24/7 all-weather training facilities for track and field sports
- a new Testing and Training Centre to provide state-of-the-art equipment and support for our athletes’ development.
Together, these new buildings form the core of our investment in the future of high performance sport — facilities designed to support athletes on their journey to the podium at Olympic, Paralympic, Commonwealth Games and world championship events.
The AIS Podium Project is the first stage in delivery of the broader AIS Campus Masterplan - the ASC’s long-term vision to ensure the AIS Campus continues to evolve as Australia’s world leading high performance sport precinct.
The AIS Campus Masterplan will:
- Future-proof AIS Campus facilities
- Strengthen Australia’s competitive edge in international sport
- Deliver environments that support athlete wellbeing and performance
- Support greater collaboration and innovation across the sport system
- Maintain the AIS Campus’ important role in the local community, while continuing to inspire the nation through sport.
The ASC will provide regular updates on the progress of the AIS Podium Project from construction milestones to how these new facilities will be integrated into high-performance operations across the Campus.
