AIS Canberra site bustling as the Paris Olympic and Paralympic year begins

12 January 2024

With less than 200 days until the Olympics and 230 until the Paralympics, our Paris hopefuls have been making use of the world class training facilities and performance services at the AIS in Canberra.

In the first two weeks of January alone, the AIS has welcomed over 320 athletes, coaches and staff from 12 different sports including taekwondo, artistic swimming, rowing and judo.

It hasn’t just been our Olympic and Paralympics hopefuls starting off the new year in Canberra, with the Australian Diamonds holding their final training camp on site before jetting off to the Netball Nations Cup in England.

The Manly Sea Eagles were also spotted at the AIS gym, recovery centre, and dining hall over the past week as past of the club’s NRL pre-season training camp.

There is still plenty to come in January, with the AIS to host an additional 530 athletes, coaches, and staff from 14 different sports for a range of Olympic, Paralympic, World Championship and pathways training camps, including from archery, equestrian, boxing, and artistic gymnastics.
