The woman was not in the water at the time and could not be revived.

Australian Sports Commission CEO Kieren Perkins OAM said:

“On behalf of the Australian Sports Commission, I would like to extend my condolences to the family and friends of the woman who has sadly passed away at the AIS public pool this morning.

“I would like to thank ACT Police and Ambulance Services for their assistance, as well as thank the members of ASC staff who handled the situation with great professionalism and compassion. Support is being provided to all staff members today.”

The public pool will remain closed until 1pm today, 16 May 2023
