The AIS continues to prioritise coach development, awarding grants of up to $40,000 to 14 sporting organisations to help strengthen their coaching workforce.

The Coach Development Initiative Grants have been awarded for new or existing initiatives which support the development of high performance coaches.

Skate Australia, Australian Sailing, Paralympics Australia and Athletics Australia are among the recipients who have big plans in place for the next 12 months.

Skate Australia will roll out video-based technology training to help coaches better analyse and advance their skaters, while Australian Sailing will improve their communication platforms between coaches and athletes by creating new benchmarking tools.

Paralympics Australia will strengthen the connection between the National Paralympic Head Coaches and the Tasmania Institute of Sport Performance Pathway Coaches by establishing two communities of practice programs.

Athletics Australia is supporting women high performance coaches by offering them international coaching opportunities and inviting them to national camps, coach development workshops as well offering them placements within the Athletics Australia Coach Mentoring Program.

The AIS will continue to track the progress of each organisation and conduct an evaluation in June 2023 to ensure the outcomes have been achieved.
