Coronavirus Update

04 March 2020

Coronavirus (COVID-19) is increasingly having an impact on the global community and is a rapidly evolving issue, which may result in activity at the AIS campus being impacted.

Impact on AIS campus activity

Due to the global challenges posed by COVID-19 around the world, many Australian sports are adjusting their training plans in the lead up to Tokyo 2020. The AIS is receiving requests from Australian sports regarding the opportunity to conduct training camps at the AIS Canberra campus.

As a result, demand on the AIS Canberra campus is likely to increase and this may have an impact on the programs delivered on site, particularly by the Aquatic & Fitness Centre, as well as accommodation on site.

If there are any changes to programs and activity at the AIS campus, this will be communicated via our website, as well as the Visit AIS and Aquatic & Fitness Centre Facebook pages. Existing customers may also be contacted directly should any changes apply.

Are you feeling unwell ?

If you are experiencing fever, diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea or skin rash, then you must refrain from attending or using the facilities at the AIS campus.

To help minimise the impact and spread of illness always practice the following measures:

  • Wash your hands before meals, after using the bathroom, and before and after training especially when using shared equipment.
  • Dry hands fully after washing.
  • Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue and dispose of appropriately and immediately after use, or cough or sneeze into the crease of your elbow.
  • DO NOT share drink bottles or towels.

Have you travelled overseas ?

Consistent with Australian Government measures, you are not permitted to attend the AIS campus  if you have spent any time overseas in the preceding 14 days. This extends to all activities at the AIS campus including AIS Tours, the Aquatic & Fitness Centre, use of sporting facilities or stays in the AIS accommodation

We appreciate your understanding as we support athletes in their preparation for Tokyo 2020 as well as provide a safe environment for all of our guests and customers.
