AIS Elevate Coach Program

A coach professional development program

Cohort 2: Athlete 2 Coach Eligibility Criteria

  • The nominated coach should be a former athlete who has recently retired.
  • Man or woman.
  • NSOs should nominate coaches involved in NSO Performance Pathway programs, across summer, winter, able and para programs.
  • NSOs are asked to discuss and endorse nominations with NIN partners (where applicable).
  • The focus of AIS Performance Pathways is to support the learning and development of coaches working with athletes who are nationally categorised at Emerging, Developing and Podium Potential level.
  • Coaches must commit to sustained engagement in a 6-month program of learning.
  • There is an expectation that participating coaches will be able to share information obtained from their athletes, (e.g. athlete response to and feedback on coaching practice during applied learning cycles) in order to provide the AIS with insight into how coach and athlete development practice is impacted by the Elevate Coach Development program.
  • Nominated coaches must be covered by the NSO’s insurance policy to take part in the Residential Experience. This refers to the cover a coach is provided as an employee of their NSO (or NIN where applicable), rather than additional cover.
  • Only coaches who fulfil these criteria, who are endorsed by their NSO (and NIN where applicable) and are motivated to participate in reflective practice are eligible for nomination.
