Keynote - Belinda Clarke

As clever, evidence-based people, we all understand that diversity of thought, experiences and beliefs can enhance performances of teams, organisations and systems.

Join us for breakfast as we hear first hand from two exceptional leaders in Sport, as Kim Crane, High Performance Director at Paddle Australia, interviews Belinda Clark AO, former cricketer, physiotherapist, and sport leader about her leadership journey from on the field to off the field. Kim and Belinda will explore the opportunities to and benefits of intentionally opening the doors to everyone at all levels of the organisation, and will stimaute us each to consider how we can contribute to supporting our own HP sport culture as we strive towards a diverse and inclusive workforce.

Peak Performance Coach Wellbeing

Heidi Auricht-Doyle, HP Coach Development Senior Lead, AIS & Paige Hill, Mental Health Lead, AIS

There is evidence to suggest coach wellbeing support is required in Australia’s HP sport system. The system is one that has typically focused on the athlete and the athlete’s success; however, success of the coach is integral to success of the athlete and should be considered a key lever in high performance.  As such, this introduction to coach wellbeing aims to;

  • Introduce the concept of the importance of wellbeing for professional performance and longevity, with a focus on the underlying physiological processes and short/long term impacts of mismanagement.
  • Link physiological, social and emotional wellbeing and high performance.
  • Begin to explore your individual barriers towards higher wellbeing and opportunities to set personal wellbeing goals.

Coffee break + informal networking

10.50am-12.00pm

Para Sport Expertise: What is it, how do we get it and what do we do with it?

Emma Beckman, Director of Teaching and Learning, School of Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences, University of Queensland

Australia excels in preparing Para athletes for success, but preparing performance support staff to work with para athletes across the spectrum of impairment types and severity is often more accidental than coordinated in approach. This session introduces key ways we can consider para athlete centred practice including a brief introduction to classification and why it matters, and some case studies to explore critical thinking in evidence based approaches to strength and conditioning with para athletes.
