This training workshop will develop skills at facilitating peer group / peer supervision sessions. The goals of supervision are to develop and maintain the practitioner’s competent professional functioning and wellbeing, while safeguarding the client (i.e.: athlete) care.

Join us for breakfast as we hear first hand from two exceptional leaders in Sport, as Kim Crane, High Performance Director at Paddle Australia, interviews Belinda Clark AO, former cricketer, physiotherapist, and sport leader about her leadership journey from on the field to off the field. Kim and Belinda will explore the opportunities to and benefits of intentionally opening the doors to everyone at all levels of the organisation, and will stimaute us each to consider how we can contribute to supporting our own HP sport culture as we strive towards a diverse and inclusive workforce.

There is evidence to suggest coach wellbeing support is required in Australia’s HP sport system. The system is one that has typically focused on the athlete and the athlete’s success; however, success of the coach is integral to success of the athlete and should be considered a key lever in high performance. 10.50am-12.00pm | Para Sport Expertise: What is it, how do we get it and what do we do with it? Emma Beckman, Director of Teaching and Learning, School of Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences, University of Queensland Australia excels in preparing Para athletes for success, but preparing performance support staff to work with para athletes across the spectrum of impairment types and severity is often more accidental than coordinated in approach. This session introduces key ways we can consider para athlete centred practice including a brief introduction to classification and why it matters, and some case studies to explore critical thinking in evidence based approaches to strength and conditioning with para athletes. |
