Female Athlete of the Year

Six finalists

  • Quality of sporting performance(s) throughout 2019 in an individual event or in special circumstances as part of a team.
    (Relative depth and level of competition will be considered).
  • Demonstrated behaviours such as sportsmanship, fair play, respect and integrity.
  • Contribution to broader athlete cohort eg. role model, leadership
  • Achievements beyond sporting performances eg. Community involvement, academic/vocation achievements.

Male Athlete of the Year

Six finalists

  • Quality of sporting performance(s) throughout 2019 in an individual event or in special circumstances as part of a team. 
    (Relative depth and level of competition will be considered).
  • Demonstrated behaviours such as sportsmanship, fair play, respect and integrity.
  • Contribution to broader athlete cohort eg. role model, leadership
  • Achievements beyond sporting performances eg. Community involvement, academic/vocation achievements.

Female Para-Athlete of the Year

Six finalists

  • Quality of sporting performance(s) throughout 2019 in an individual event or in special circumstances as part of a team.

Emerging Athlete of the Year

    (Relative depth and level of competition will be considered).
  • Demonstrated behaviours such as sportsmanship, fair play, respect and integrity.
  • Contribution to broader athlete cohort eg. role model, leadership
  • Achievements beyond sporting performances eg. community involvement, academic/vocation achievements.

Unable to be nominated if nominated in previous years.

Coach of the Year

Four finalists

  • Quality of sporting performance(s) throughout 2019, considering the relative depth and level of competition.
  • Demonstrated behaviours such as sportsmanship, fair play, respect and integrity.
  • Contribution to broader coaching community eg. coach education and development, mentoring, knowledge sharing, embracing innovation and inspiring others.
  • Display initiative to improve the standard of their own coaching performance.

Team of the Year

Four finalists

  • Quality of sporting performance(s) throughout 2019.
  • Demonstrated behaviours such as sportsmanship, fair play, respect and integrity.
  • Relative depth and level of competition.
  • Any other factors pertinent to the resultant performance within the team.

High Performance Program of the Year

Four finalists

  • Quality of sporting performance(s) throughout 2019
  • Displayed initiative and embraced improvement in the day to day management, conduct and delivery of the program to support its athletes, teams and HP staff.
  • Athletes and members of the program are a positive influence on the community
  • Demonstrated contemporary and innovate practices.

Community Engagement Award

Four finalists

  • Athletes is a positive influence on the community – working with community groups promoting inclusion, diversity and/or health and wellbeing
  • Undertakes charitable work
  • Contribution to the promotion, development of their sport

Award for Leadership

Four finalists

  • Demonstrate ability in strategic thinking and delivery
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to continuous change, creative thinking, develop solutions and inspire others
  • Broader contribution to the high performance system
  • Display initiative to improve the standard of their own leadership performance
